An Inviting Escape

Set deep in South-West France, Sourrettou is home to The Midsummer Retreat, an exclusive luxury summer camp, within the grounds of the old French farmhouse where the owners live. Set in a peaceful valley, with just the occasional passing tractor, surrounded by views of the hillside and an abundance of trees, birds and flowers.
The accommodation is individual and secluded, with its own private space and gardens, as well as shared use of the 6 acres of land at Sourrettou. Walk in the surrounding valleys. Watch buzzards and kites soaring above. Enjoy the sound of summer at dusk as cicadas begin to sing, bringing the night alive. Collect eggs from the free range hens; sit in the shade; explore medieval hilltop villages and crumbling chateaux. Swim and canoe in the river and picnic beside the Aveyron…..

We had a wonderful time at the midsummer retreat. It truly is a little bit magical. If you love nature it’s a beautiful part of the world and you can escape from it all and enjoy real peace.

My 5 year old son absolutely loved his time here especially looking after the chickens. He claimed letting them out in the mornings was the best moment of his life (better than Disneyland where we took him the previous summer!). He also really enjoyed being able to eat outdoors in the open air kitchen.

The midsummer retreat is a little hidden gem and we’d thoroughly recommend it for a simple, relaxing break where you really escape from pressures of modern life

We spent two weeks in Bren and Nicki’s Midsummer Retreat and it was wonderful! The location just off the beaten track but easy access to chateaus, local markets, canoeing, walking, cycling, swimming caving and fabulous French fetes and back streets. The Yurt was amazing - we watched the stars at night, the sun rises and the tempestuous lightening heading down the valley! We had all the mod cons and cleanliness with the real feeling of being outdoors under great big skies loving nature. Fresh eggs and veggies each day was a welcome treat. We cannot recommend this little gem highly enough. Amelie loved the chickens, tree house orchard and hammock! A perfect place to relax, unwind and be at one with nature and the beautiful surroundings.
